Natural gas compressor bolt hole failures Natural gas compressors frequently suffer from cracked and badly damaged bolt holes. Often the valve cap bolt holes pull out leaving a large crater where the bolt hole was. Full-Torque manufactures thread repair inserts that when installed will make the repaired bolt hole stronger than the bolt. These bolt holes have to seal around the outside with pressures often over 2500 psi. Main frame bolt holes used to attach a distance piece or compressor cylinder take a real pounding and frequently crack due to the cyclic strain of normal operation. Using the patented LOCK-N-STITCH metal stitching technology along with the Full-Torque thread repair inserts, these important bolt holes can be made stronger than new and will outlast the life of the compressor. Often large stationary engines are used to drive these gas compressors and also develop serious cracks in and around the many bolt holes required to hold them together. Thousands of these bolt holes have been repaired and none have failed. Full-Torque thread inserts are available in sizes from ¼” or 6mm to 2” or 50mm. Special inserts can be made to your exact specifications. |
