The advantages of using a hard anodized aluminum insert rather than steel or stainless steel in an aluminum cylinder head

Spark plug stripped threads can be repaired better than new. New Full-Torque spark plug thread repair inserts are made of hard anodized aluminum for aluminum cylinder heads and steel for cast iron cylinder heads. This unique new repair technology will repair stripped and cracked spark plug holes better than new.

The special Spiralhook external threads on the insert increases the metal to metal contact between the insert and the cylinder head for maximum heat transfer which is absolutely critical allow the spark plug to operate at the proper heat range. If the spark plug insert is made of steel or stainless steel and used in an aluminum cylinder head, the spark plug will run hotter than it should. A spark plug that runs too hot can cause pre-ignition. Often these spark plug inserts fail. Thousands of these failed spark plug thread repairs have been successfully repaired again, permanently with Full-Torque inserts.
